Use of greens by non-affiliate members

It has come to our knowledge that an organization that is not an affiliated member of the Lawn Bowls Association of Hong Kong, China (LBA) has written to you asking for the borrowing of your greens for their lawn bowls competition.

Please note that LBA is the governing body for the sport of lawn bowls in Hong Kong and any lawn bowls activities organized in Hong Kong will require the sanctioning from LBA if it involves three or more members clubs.  Here is the provisions in the LBA bye-laws for your reference:

1.22            Sanctioning of Bowls Tournament

1.22.a    With a view to promoting lawn bowls and enhancing bowling techniques amongst lawn bowls enthusiasts, member clubs may from time to time organise invitational bowls tournaments.  In organising such tournaments, the organiser shall look for sanction from the HKLBA when:

(i)     three or more member clubs, including the organiser, are involved in a local tournament;

(ii)    two or more members of the World Bowls are involved in an international tournament to be held in Hong Kong.

1.22.b    When a sanction is granted to a member club to organise an invitational bowls tournament, the HKLBA shall have the authority to oversee the event and to ensure that it is properly managed by the organiser.  At the same time, HKLBA shall facilitate the organiser in every possible aspect as far as practicable.

All affiliate clubs are advised to refrain themselves from involving in such activities organised by any organisation that is not an affiliated member of LBA.  You may also need to check if the Article of such organisation allows them to involve in lawn bowls activities.

We recommend your organisation to give a serious consideration on such application or severe consequence may be caused.

Your sincerely
